Sources used for efficiency and energy calibration and for checking alpha spectrometers.
Many of these sources are produced by electrodeposition of the radionuclide onto the surface of a platinum foil, which is then fixed by diffusion onto an aluminum or plastic support.
Both single-radionuclide and mixed-radionuclide sources are available.
The radionuclides are deposited on a stainless-steel disc, and the reagents used for electrodeposition are of the highest purity.
Main advantages:
- Peak width typically < 20 keV FWHM
- Wipe test comparable to that of sealed sources
