The Campoverde Analytical Laboratory is equipped to provide the following types of analyses:
Tests Accredited by the Radiometric Analysis Laboratory
- ISO 13164-4:2015 – Activity concentration of Radon-222 in drinking water and natural waters.
- UNI EN ISO 9698:2019 – Activity concentration of Tritium in drinking water, natural waters, and liquid environmental samples.
- UNI EN ISO 11704:2019 – Determination of total alpha and beta activity concentration in drinking water, cooling water, domestic and industrial wastewater, rainwater, groundwater, and surface water.
- UNI EN ISO 13162:2021 – Determination of Carbon-14 in liquid samples.
- UNI 11665:2017 – High-resolution gamma spectrometry on: environmental and industrial solid samples, environmental and industrial liquid samples, food/feed samples, and biological samples. Accredited for the measurement of Ra-226 in equilibrium with Pb-214 and Bi-214 (Ra-226+).
- UNI ISO 7503-2:2016 – Measurement of removable surface contamination using the smear test technique.
- UNI EN ISO 19017:2017 – Field gamma spectrometry on: conditioned waste materials in various forms and matrices; unconditioned raw waste materials including process materials; materials from dismantling and decommissioning in different forms and shapes (cylinders, cubes, parallelepipeds).
- ISO 13166:2020 – Determination of uranium isotopes by alpha spectrometry in samples of drinking water and natural waters.
- UNI 11912:2023 – Determination of Po-210 by alpha spectrometry in environmental and industrial solid samples, environmental and industrial liquid samples, food matrices, and urine.
Other analytical techniques
- MI1_FE55 – Internal method for the measurement of Iron-55 by liquid scintillation counting in liquid samples obtained from the dissolution, treatment, and radiochemical separation of activated solid matrices.
- MI2_NI63 – Internal method for the measurement of Nickel-63 by liquid scintillation counting in liquid samples obtained from the dissolution, treatment, and radiochemical separation of activated solid matrices.
- Alpha Spectrometry: a method that allows the determination of a wide range of pure alpha-emitting radionuclides in both liquid and solid matrices following appropriate radiochemical treatments. This technique is applicable when the total alpha activity (αtot) in drinking water exceeds regulatory limits, enabling the identification of specific alpha-emitting radionuclides.
- Alpha Liquid Scintillation Analysis using the PERALS Spectrometer (Photon–Electron–Rejecting–Alpha Liquid Scintillation): a high-sensitivity analytical technique that enables the measurement of alpha-emitting radionuclides while significantly simplifying sample preparation compared to equivalent methods and greatly reducing measurement times. Using specific liquid extractants, it allows for rapid and efficient purification of the radionuclides of interest. It can be applied to both liquid samples and appropriately dissolved solid samples.
- Measurement of Tritium and Carbon-14 Contamination in Solid Matrices: performed through combustion in a tubular furnace operating under an oxygen flow with “trap” solutions. This technique allows for the identification and quantification of tritium and carbon in solid samples of various types, such as plastics, soils, and plant materials.
- Radiochemical Measurements: the term refers to all techniques that involve complex sample treatment processes and/or radionuclide extraction. The sample treatment method and choice of measurement technique are strongly influenced by the type of matrix constituting the sample and the specific radionuclide to be measured. Campoverde is capable of developing customized methods for any radionuclide in any type of matrix.
