The Radiation Protection Expert (RPE) is a professional appointed by the employer to carry out duties related to the physical monitoring of workers exposed to ionizing radiation, in accordance with Legislative Decree No. 101 of July 31, 2020. 101.
Campoverde has within its team several Radiation Protection Experts, both 2nd-level and 3rd-level certified.
The main activities carried out by the Radiation Protection Expert include:
- Classification of radiation-exposed workers
- Preparation of the ionizing radiation risk assessment
- Identification of PPE (personal protective equipment)
- Development of operational procedures and instructions
- Evaluation of doses and physical monitoring of exposed workers (including preventive dose assessments for planned activities and evaluations of doses received or committed under normal working conditions, as well as exposure assessments in the event of an incident)
- Collaboration with the Authorized Physician and the Health and Safety Service
- Participation in the periodic meetings of the Health and Safety Service, as required by Legislative Decree 81/2008 and subsequent amendments
- Management of compliance requirements arising from regulatory authorization procedures
- Coordination and communication with regulatory control authorities
