Confined Spaces

Regulations define confined spaces as all areas not designed for continuous human occupancy — such as tanks, pipelines, silos, cesspools, chimneys, pits, tunnels, or similar environments — where, in the event of accidents or critical situations, serious emergencies may occur, including:

  • Falling from height or into depth
  • Difficulties in providing first aid or managing emergencies
  • Oxygen deficiency
  • Unbreathable atmospheres
  • Fire or explosion
  • Contact with hazardous fluids
  • Impact with structural elements
  • Burial or entrapment
