Field Analyses for Decontamination Activities

The Campoverde Radiometric Analysis Laboratory has expanded its operations in the Decontamination sector to include on-site characterizations, integrated analyses, and control measurements.
Campoverde’s specialized technicians support decontamination activities using state-of-the-art instruments. Thanks to an extensive range of equipment, and specifically a portable ISOCS Canberra detector, the Campoverde Laboratory can perform on-site gamma spectrometry characterization, an analysis for which Campoverde is Accredited.

UNI EN ISO 19017:2017 – Field gamma spectrometry: conditioned waste materials in various forms and matrices; unconditioned raw waste materials including process materials; materials from dismantling and decommissioning activities in various shapes and sizes (e.g., cylinders, cubes, parallelepipeds).

Campoverde also performs removable surface contamination checks using smear tests, which can be measured immediately and on-site with the iSolo instrument (Mirion Technologies). The iSolo uses a PIPS (Passivated Implanted Planar Silicon) detector positioned above the filter to detect radiation and can simultaneously and effectively measure alpha and beta-gamma emissions, distinguishing their respective contributions. The instrument is portable and battery-powered, offering up to 10 hours of autonomy, making it ideal for field measurements.

When necessary, for more complex decontamination projects, Campoverde can install a fully equipped on-site laboratory, providing dedicated laboratory technicians to ensure workflow optimization and excellence.
