Radon-222 is a radioactive gas emitted from the Earth’s crust that migrates from the ground and enters buildings. It is a noble gas — odorless and colorless — and therefore imperceptible to human senses. However, exposure to radon gas can be harmful to health and is associated with the development of lung cancer.
The employer is required to measure and monitor radon gas concentrations in underground and semi-underground workplaces.

The monitoring activity includes two consecutive six-month measurement campaigns. The technology used for automatic concentration reading is based on alpha particle track detectors known as CR-39 dosimeters.
Placement of the dosimeters in the workplace is performed by Campoverde’s technical staff, while the development and analysis of the dosimeters are carried out by Accredia-accredited laboratories, partners of Campoverde.
At the end of the monitoring period, a comprehensive report is prepared in compliance with the guidelines outlined in Annex II of Legislative Decree 101/2020. 101/2020.
